The following was the answer of Arthur Heinzmann to the question asked in part 1 !

“hehe warten amal, das sind kei wallisaer turtae, das want due da meintscht, sind uesserbaerger-flade”!

or in German: “hey wait a minute, what you mean there, are not Walliser Törtchen, but Ausserberger Fladen” ! Then the explanation went on. In former times the Ausserberger would have stolen a little bit of their saffron from the Mundern, in order to form their Walliser Fladen a special note. In the post-war years, these pancakes were one of the few feasts in our region. But ‘normal’ people could not have afforded the saffron. In order to show off, the people of Aussenberg went to Mund at night and took only a little bit of the saffron, hoping that the people of Munder would not notice. The saffron served the Aussenbergers only for the coloring of the pancake. The taste was practically unnoticeable. At that time, these were the only ‘Valaisan pancakes’ that were always more yellow than the others, and these ‘Ausserberger pancakes’ soon became better known than the others.

At some point, a Munder caught an Ausserberger stealing and confronted him. He was then locked up in a gadu (bay window) until he finally revealed what he wanted the saffron for. Since then, the ‘yellower pancakes’ have only been made on special occasions, but with purchased saffron.
