For the stuffed vegetable onion recipe, peel the onions and hollow them out except for the last two casing rings. Cut the inside of the onion into cubes.

Cut the edam cheese into cubes. Mix the minced meat with the cheese cubes and fill the hollowed out onions evenly with it.

Fry the onions in hot oil in a frying pan until golden brown all over. Add a little water to the onions and continue to cook in the covered frying pan for about 35 minutes over medium heat.

Remove the onion from the pan and keep warm.

For the sauce, add the onion cubes to the same pan and sauté until translucent. Add whipping cream and let it boil down for about 5 minutes. Remove from the heat and whisk in the chilled butter to thicken the sauce.

The stuffed vegetable onions go very well with parsley potatoes.
