For the elderberry liqueur, grate the elderberries and put them in a clean preserving jar. Pour in fruit schnapps, close and leave to infuse for 6 to 8 weeks.

Then strain the liquid through a fine tea towel, now squeeze the berries only slightly.

Boil the red wine with sugar until the sugar dissolves. Cool and mix with the filtered schnapps. Bottle and let the elderberry liqueur mature in a cold, dark place for a few months before enjoying.
