For the sausage hotdog, heat a few drops of oil in a frying pan and fry the sausages until they are nicely colored. Turn them over and over again. Peel the onion and cut it into fine rings.

Dredge these rings in a little flour. Heat 3 tablespoons of oil in a smaller pan and fry the floured onion rings in it over medium heat (stirring constantly). Then add a little salt.

Quarter the pickled gherkin lengthwise and cut into thin slices. Now divide the baguette in half and cut each half lengthwise on the side (do not cut through).
